I live in one of the most beautiful cities. Charleston, SC is “My Town” (for this week’s Focus52 prompt), and I was excited to get downtown with my camera to shoot. This morning, though, I woke to nasty weather, so I was limited. I did get this shot, which I think embodies Charleston exactly. Every corner, street, ally (and there are lots of them), and garden is a chance to see something new and unexpected. And every inch of this city seems to be a work of art. I love that. This gate leads to a private garden on Legare Street. It’s is my very favorite street of all, quiet and so picturesque.
Here are some other shots of Charleston, if you want to see: Waterfront Park, Folly Beach Fishing Pier, and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Or there are pictures from the Unitarian Graveyard, Hampton Park, and the Mount Pleasant Fishing Pier in my Flickr photostream. This city clearly wants to have it’s picture taken.

nice wrought iron door!!
Isn't it lovely? There are gates like this all over town. Many of them are handmade by the same artist, Philip Simmons, who is known for his symmetry and perfection. He made all of his gates by hand, so that makes them even more amazing.
Very pretty!
Thank you!
I love Charleston. Great shot to show your wonderful town. Thank you for stopping by Sanukipity Photography and leaving the encouraging words.
