DIY Friday | Circuit Workout Cups

Variety is a workout necessity. But how to do you keep up the variety when you workout at home? Type “circuit workout” into the search bar of Pinterest you get list after list of workouts that you can do in your living room. I tried one or two of these this week, but I can’t see maintaining motivation to do the same routine in the same way over and over. But these Circuit Workout Cups might be the answer.

I wrote one of 15 different exercises on each of the 30 sticks. Pull out one stick, do the exercise on it for 1 minute. Put in the done cup, and move on to the next stick. Each 30-minute workout (or hour-long, if you go through the sticks twice) will be completely different. And it’ll work out your whole body.

Perfect, right?

Here’s what you need to make these Circuit Workout Cups: spray paint (any color you like that feels motivating), Popsicle sticks, scissors, a pencil, Sharpie, two plastic cups, and contact paper.

Using the pencil, draw an arrow on the contact paper that will fit the height of your cups. Cut out four identical arrows, two for each cup.

Stick the arrows to the plastic cups. On one cup, point the arrows up. On the second cups, point the arrows down. (Yep. Still using the polka dot contact paper.) Make sure you press the contact paper down really well, especially on the edges and corners.

Now it’s time for spray paint. Paint both cups and one side of the Popsicle sticks. If you turn the cups upside down when you paint, then you can make sure the inside of the cups won’t get covered too. When the paint dries, peel the contact paper off slowly.

Now choose 15 exercises that work your whole body, and write them on the Popsicle sticks with the Sharpie. Repeat each exercise, so there are two sticks for each exercise. I used crunches, burpees, jumping jacks, high knees, air punches, wall sits, and more. Check out my Pinterest Healthy You for more inspiration.

You’re ready to work out. Place all the exercise sticks in the up arrow or Out Cup. Without looking, pull out one stick at at time. Perform the exercise for one full minute. Put the stick in the Done Cup (down arrow) and move on to the next exercise. So be ready for a full body workout that’s different each time and can go where every you are.

And just like that there are no more excuses.

I had to pin this one because it is so awesome!
I'll do the fun crafty part and then gift it to my boot camp fiend of a sister. Oh wait I'm supposed to do that part ;)
