I am not ready to jump on one of those fad, super weight-loss cleanses where you drink lemon water mixed with cayenne pepper and maple syrup. Gross, right? Plus, my body needs more than sugar to keep it moving all day long. I have babies to chase. I have a run to train for. I need my brain to work on freelance projects. And I know you have those kinds of obligations too. Food is important.
This week, I’ve been working on a couple clean juice recipes to share with you this month. I’m a fan of a blender breakfast. And I’ve come to love my Green Monster. Cranberries are awesome and have an amazing reputation for cleaning, especially for organs in the lymphatic system. (Source.) Combined with an apple and lemon and a little nutmeg and this juice tastes good and is a good way to start my morning.
Clean Cranberry Juice
1 cup filtered water
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1 apple, cored and diced
1/2 lemon, peeled and seeded
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3 or 4 ice cubes
Honey or maple syrup to sweeten (optional)
If you have a juicer, you can use it instead. But I put all my ingredients in a blender and press go until the juice is the consistency you like. Enjoy.
