Weekly Photograph | Floral

Last week’s photo prompt from Focus 52 was “Hit the Streets”. And despite my efforts to shoot people and things at the Farmer’s Market, I didn’t get anything that I felt was worthy of sharing. All my pictures were a jumble without a clear subject; I see this looking back on the shots. I’m determined to try again and capture something more clearly. Anyways. This week’s prompt, though, felt much more comfortable. Maybe it’s because flowers never object to having their pictures taken. My hydrangeas bloom purple, blue, and soft pink out my kitchen window. And then, they fade to this lovely green. I cut several handfulls Friday morning because it was my turn to host book club and nothing says welcome quite like fresh-cut flowers. These were the stragglers that ended up on my windowsill. In the morning light, their petals are so wonderfully fragile. I love that.

  1. Beautifully done! I love the tones in these flowers and love the last shot…gorgeous lines in it!

    • Thanks, Paula. I really like the stems too. So simple, and so lovely. I guess that’s sometimes how the best photos are.

awwww - did you delete your street photos? :(

These are lovely florals. The first is my fave!

    • I never posted them to begin with. They were just unexciting, either I was too far away from my subject or there were too many subjects in the frame. I love the idea of street photography, but I need to work on my technique/approach/confidence.

But thanks for the floral love. :)
