Here’s a truth: passionate people should hang out together much much more often. Have you seen what happens when they do? It’s like the room just fills up, explodes with the shared passion. It’s like a the sunshine pours into the entire space with blinding energy. It’s simply amazing. And I want to be a part of moments like that more.
I’d heard about Listen To Your Mother for a while. My friend Tracy was in the Chicago show last year. And it’s hard to avoid the rumblings of a nationwide show that is so powerful. Original essays. Read by their authors. All about motherhood. Do you see the potential?
When the Charleston show was announced, I wanted to audition. I had no idea what I would write about or how I could possibly stand in front of an audience and share my words. But then I took a deep breath, remembered my commitment to live my year with passion, to step outside my comfort zone, and I signed up.
And that’s how I came to be in a room surrounded by people who share my love for the written word who have beautiful, touching, hard, raw stories to tell. That is an amazing thing. The cast of the very first Listen To Your Mother, Charleston is an amazing thing. And as our first rehearsal began, and as stories unfolded, hearts opened. Tears were cried. There was laughter. There were smiles. Everywhere around us there was dazzling power.
Here’s the truth: there’s power when passionate people come together. See for yourself.

This is a group I’m proud to be a part of. And it’s a cause I’m excited to contribute my own power to. And if all the love and passion weren’t enough, 10% of the proceeds from Listen To Your Mother, Charleston will be donated to Postpartum Support Charleston, a local-non profit that supports women who struggle with depression after the birth of their children.
If you’re local, I’d love to see your shining face in the audience. I bought a new dress for the occasion.
