Inhale. So. Exhale. Hum. Inhale. So. Exhale. Hum. So Hum. So Hum. Slowly. So Hum.
I’ve been living with this mantra in my head for a couple of weeks now. I hear it when I sit still. As I’m falling asleep at night. Driving along the highway. It’s become something of my go-to mantra when I try to meditate. I focus on the rounded shape of the words as they slide out of my head. I focus on their sounds. And I focus on their meaning. “I am that.”
At first, I found it easy to get caught up in all that I am, or how I am perceived on the outside. Mother. Wife. Daughter. Sister. Friend. Blogger. Writer. Photographer. Designer. And then I sat with it more. And I felt the mantra crawl a little deeper inside. So hum. So hum. I am kind, loving, nurturing, brave, smart, gentle. I am eager, capable, strong, generous. So hum. I am unique, thoughtful, creative. I am that.
But it’s been a couple of weeks since so hum began to echo. I’ve spent days with it. And I know that it means much more than the labels I can put on it. So hum. I am that. I am an integral part of the universe. I am a part of all that there is. I am linked by my breath to all living things. I am linked by thought and action to everything around me.I am part of the rhythm of the universe, part of the ebb and flow of the tide, of change, of breath. I’ve also learned that I am that part of the universe that can not be duplicated.
It’s a beautiful thought and an amazing feeling to be linked to the world and to you.
So hum. So hum. I am that. So hum.
