At the beginning of these 30 Days, I stumbled upon Nesting Place. (I know, where have I been?) But I was so excited to see her entire community dedicated to 31-day-long projects for the month of October. Since these intense and content-specific are becoming a big part of my day-to-day, I had to link up and join the over 1,200 people and their own 31-day adventures. This month, the Nesting Place is dedicated to creating a purposeful home, one that creates a space that meets her family’s needs to thrive and learn and grow. I love this view.
But even more, I love The Minimalists essay that The Nester linked to earlier this month, “Organizing is Often Well-Planned Hoarding.”When we get rid of the superfluous stuff, however, we can focus on life’s more important aspects,” they write. I’m reminding myself of this over and over this month. Holding up a shirt I can’t remember wearing, deciding if I should keep the flower vase that came with my anniversary flowers, or deciding if the random impulse buy is worth it this is something I remind myself. It’s just stuff. And is it worth moving, shuffling, cleaning, taking care of? Is it worth it?
Not usually.
