I just registered Julia and Maxwell for preschool in the fall. It’s something I take for granted, that they would have access to high-quality teachers, finger paint, books, a school building even. My biggest concern is what days they will go to school, but for many people in the world the concern is if they will go to school at all.
I mentioned 366 Random Acts of Kindness and how I love that blogger’s decision to make a change. Today’s act is a direct response to his call to action. I donated $1 to Shining Star Academy/Saprinu. Saprinu is working in Kathmandu to “firmly tie education into the heart of the community.” Shining Star Academy, the original school, has outgrown its building, and Sudan, an original founder of Shining Star is struggling with a very sick child and needs all the support he can get. I love Saprinu’s goal to bring education where it would otherwise not be, and I hope that my contribution will help children, like my own, on the other side of the world.
