I once had a yoga teacher say, “You’re in yoga class, and you’re listening to Mos Def. Life is pretty good, People.” She was so right. I love to practice outside where my soundtrack are the birds and the wind, but when I’m inside, I need some music on. I want to pull my own rhythm from a musical rhythm. I want to flow with a beat.
And yoga music is important. I like repetition. I like a good beat. I like power. But too much and it’s distracting, and to little and why bother turning it on at all. So I’ve compiled my list of perfect songs for your flow. I’ve been listening to some of these this month, and I have a few new favorites. (Jem where have you been all my life?) But they all are amazing and put me in the mood for sun salutations and sequences that will push my body and mind.
