According to a recent teacher of mine, “If you don’t find the balance, you’re just bending your body in funny ways.”
And that’s what this week has been all about, finding balance, finding center. On my mat, I’ve been drawn to the poses that require lots of calm, lots of balance, lots of focus on my drishti. And that’s kind of what yoga is all about, finding the balance. But it’s more than just matter of balance on my mat because it’s about finding the balance in every cranny and corner of my life. It’s about finding balance in my attitude and feelings. It’s about balance in indulgence and restraint. It’s about balance in work and play, awake and asleep, celebration and somber.
Here’s what my week has looked like.
Day 20: My shoulder stand is really ugly. But when I do it looking up at the trees and in a slight breeze, then I feel like even I can fly. | Day 21: There will be no yoga today. It’s my wedding anniversary, so I’ll be celebrating with my family with baseball and hot dogs instead. | Day 22: I’m doing yoga with my daughter tonight. Her #wheel puts me to shame. | Day 23: Yoga is so much better when your mat is awesome. Today is my first practice on the mat I designed using @sharpie Paint Markers. | Day 25: Some tree pose to help my day end in a more balanced way. | Day 26: I made a yoga playlist for my mat time. I found some old favorites and some new awesomeness. Check out my blog today to take a listen.
Tell me about your week.
