We’re recovering from our holiday. After all the commotion, quiet time is so so welcome. Do you feel the same way? This week’s photo prompt on Focus 52 is Silent Night, and to me, nothing says silent more than a gorgeous and (almost) full moon. (I took these photos on Thursday, and the full moon was officially Friday.) This is my first time trying to take pictures of the moon, and I admit I did a quick Google search for some simple guidelines and help. My first shots were too white and blurry. And then I realized that if I sped up my shutter speed, then the craters and details became clear. Plus, the glow is so lovely and warm. And now I’m dying for some more focal length to get closer.

Josie the Pussycat is getting into the Christmas spirit. She’s picked her very favorite present to perch on where she can look out the window and watch what is happening in the street and in the living room. The gift was perfectly wrapped. It’s meant for my husband, but I don’t know that Josie will give it up Christmas morning. She has torn and creased the paper and made herself right at home. This week’s photography Two Scoopz Focus 52 photography prompt is Brown Paper Packages. And while my packages might not be tied up with string, I think Josie makes a pretty perfect package decoration.

I’ve told you all about my holiday lights, but this year my neighbors have outdone themselves. These lights were part of a small tree, but every branch, every fork is lit by a small crystal-like flower. I couldn’t help but stop and take photographs, and the bokeh-”the beautiful blur in the out-of-focus areas of an image” (according to Two Scoopz) turned out sunning. It’s the Focus 52 prompt this week. Look how lovely!
