Bloggers Day 29 | Hatton Gravely of Freshmom

08/29/14

I’ve known Hatton Gravely of Freshmom for longer than most of the people in my life. And if that didn’t make her awesome enough, then you need to read her blog. She writes about life, her son, photography, style, and wine. (Wine!) I love her beach style and ability to capture the exact right photograph. And even if I don’t see her in person all that much, when I do, she has a great and infectious laugh that I think shines through on Freshmom.

What Is Your Blog About?

I’d say it’s a lifestyle blog. I’ve been all over the board with it and enjoy writing about different topics, but my favorite posts are the ones about our daily life, because I love going back and reading those moments and seeing pictures. I’ve been blogging for a long time, so I’ve accidentally documented all of these stories of moments I’d otherwise have forgotten.

What Makes Your Blog Different?

It’s probably not that different than many other blogs, other than it’s my personal perspective. That’s not exactly selling it, is it?

Where Do You Blog?

Usually on my couch, on my laptop. Sometimes on my iPad. I’ve started composing more in Evernote, and then turn it into a post later. I’m certainly not very organized about it!

How Do You Take Your Coffee or Tea?

Plain, with just half and half, in a Tervis tumbler with a lid on it.

The Most-Played Song in My iTunes is [FILL IN THE BLANK].

Everything is Awesome, which is played on a loop for my son, who knows nearly every word. My favorite part is, “Blue skies, bouncy springs - We just named two awesome things.”

I Couldn’t Live Without My [FILL IN THE BLANK].

iPhone when I’m on the go. It tells me how to get places, turn by turn, which is necessary because I do not have the gift of navigation and get lost nearly every place I go, even places I’ve frequently visited. It’s also my camera, my note taker, my mini work computer since I have all of my documents stored in Dropbox, and my access to the world wide web. A final attribute that can’t be ignored is the iPhone makes phone calls on the occasions in which text is inappropriate.

Where Is Your Dream Vacay?

We love wine, and I could visit Napa and Sonoma a million times without getting bored. However, I really want to visit France and see the really old wine caves, learn about old world wines, and eat baguettes with cheese.

Who is your Girl Crush?

Dorothy Draper, her taste was impeccable.

What is Your Guilty Pleasure?

J Brut Rose, Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay, Rodney Strong Symmetry. My husband sells wine, and unfortunately, I’ve developed a taste for nicer wines. Fortunately, he can buy it at wholesale prices!

If You Could Invite Anyone (Alive or Dead) To Dinner, Who Would It Be?

A magic genie that could grant me three wishes. I would be very precise and I’m certain I would not make a mistake like Midas.

What Is Your Favorite Part Of Your Body?

My thighs! I just love my thighs! Ha. Haha haha. Seriously, I’m very thankful to be healthy, and blessed to have a good brain in my head.

What Do You Want The World To Know About You?

I’m normal. I have a house that isn’t perfect but isn’t a total wreck. Most days I love being a working mom and occasionally, I wish I stayed at home. I recently learned that two spaces in between sentences is improper, and I’m trying to correct the habit. It’s a difficult habit to break. I am not crafty, but I am creative. I love blogging because it’s a creative process. I love taking photos. When I have all of the ingredients, I love to cook. Most of all, I love my husband, our son, and our life together. I’m on the fence about oxford commas. Like two spaces after a sentence, I was taught to put a comma in a series, but my co-worker, who edits all of my professional pieces, always removes them. How about you?
