My husband love his tools. He’s in the garage right now working with tools I don’t even know the name of to do something elaborate to his truck. It’s amazing. But it’s his love of his favorite Thanksgiving tool that lead to dinner last night. His turkey fryer comes out twice a year: Thanksgiving and Christmas. And it makes the most amazing, juicy turkey. Plus, it means I have one less thing to worry about in my kitchen.
But sometimes it feels like a whole lot of work for one turkey. He pulls out the pot and cooker. He has the propane tank filled, and sets it all up in the yard. He sits in the yard as the oil heats and then carefully lowers the bird in. Then he sits and waits and times until the turkey is ready to come out. It’s not tedious; usually there’s beer involved, but it just seems like it would be nice if there was something else to do with the oil before it’s all put up.
That’s what made Jason want to try Thanksgiving Fritters. Ta Da!
I took French bread dough (premade from Pillsbury), and rolled up a little bit of turkey, stuffing, and sweet potatoes inside. They looked like little dough fingers. Jason plopped them in the oil and cooked for just a few minutes, and these fritters were the result. I’m embarrassed to admit how delicious these were because the unhealthy factor is high. I guess though that’s part of the season.

Yum!! I love making leftovers into something wonderful
