My mother’s father was the king of He Who phrases. (Not this grandfather, my other amazing grandfather. Yep. I’m blessed.) I’d visit every summer for weeks, and Papa would be full of the He Who puns.
He who rides the tiger is afraid to dismount.
He who does not know one thing, knows another.
He who laughs last, laughs best.
Papa would tickle me under my chin with his long fingers. And smile with bright eyes. Call me “Lover Dover.” He was always so happy to impart his knowledge. And always thrilled and giggling to share his favorite He Who.
So today, when I came across this proverb today, I thought of those chin tickles and quiet moments in Little Rock with Papa. I smiled big, and I knew I had to share it with you.
