Today’s quote is a shout out to Jonathan Safran Foer. I saw him speak yesterday about the dangers of factory farming and how dangerous a meat-eating lifestyle can be. (It’s all in his book Eating Animals
.) While he didn’t speak on literature and fiction or his modern literary style or the way he writes these characters who are amazingly alive with voices and habits of their own, and while he didn’t discuss most of what I really wanted to hear, he did throw out this amazing quote during the Q&A.
“Nothing feels as good as taking a step toward being the person you want to be.” And he’s right. It doesn’t matter if you’re organizing your home, giving up meat, starting to exercise, flossing your teeth more often, learning to play the piano. I could go on. That first step is the hardest. No one will argue with you on that. But it’s also the most satisfying. And it’s the start of something amazing.
So where will your steps take you?

Are you giving up meat? I think Drew would divorce me if I said we were a meat-free home. 🙂
No. Not yet, although he had some interesting points about the lifestyle being better for the environment and a person’s overall health. I think I might tackle it for a future 30 Days, though. Jason and Drew are of the same meat-mindset. 😉
