The holiday adage”Tis better to give than to receive” applies to so much more than things that can be wrapped and ribboned. According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, it applies to joy too.
Scatter Joy, he says.
I love this image. I picture lots of sunshine and white-dressed girls tossing joy in the air from open baskets. But even if you don’t see joy being scattered quite so literally, you can feel the difference when you do scatter your own joy.
When you give joy around and about and away, you get it back. When you show the joy you have inside to others, then open up yourself to see more joy in the world.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there. Find your love, and share it with the world. You deserve it.
in the end, it’s not what you gather, but rather what you scatter.
