Confession time. Last year, at holiday time, I missed Julia’s preschool Christmas program. She was so excited about it. She’d been practicing and singing and dancing for weeks and had been telling me about how she was going to sing on stage. The morning of the show, she was giddy. I was so proud, and so excited. But I went home after drop off and just lost track of time. I don’t even have a good excuse. I was wrapping presents and letting Max nap, and I totally missed the entire show. By the time I got in the car to drive to her preschool, the performance was already over and my husband (who made it) was calling to find out where I was.
*sigh*
This year, I don’t want to feel side-swiped by the holidays. It’s not like I don’t know what’s coming. My calendar is usually marked, and I typically know which guest to expect when or what party is where, and I know when the school programs are. But something always slips away from me. Or I let myself get totally overwhelmed. I never feel fully prepared until sometime in the new year when it’s winter hibernation time.
So this year, I’m dedicating these 30 Days to preparing for glad tidings. I’m preparing with meal planning and present making, crafting and decorating, baking and (of course) eating. I’m determined to be relaxed and ready as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, or any other holiday that comes my way. And this year, I’m not going to miss a moment of happiness (no matter how little) and joy that the season has to offer, especially Julia’s Christmas program.

Great idea, can’t wait to see what you come up with! I’m always so frazzled this time of year, and this year I’m turning 30 on December 2nd which adds a new level of stress!

I know what you mean frazzled. There’s so much to stay on top of this time of year. But don’t stress your birthday, you can be 29 for as long as you want to be. I won’t tell. 😉
I wish you all the best for your 30 days preparations for the Christmas and the New Year. In fact these small moments of Joys and happiness really make our lives more pleasant and meaningful.
