Sometimes, you don’t have a tripod, or there isn’t room or you just need something that will fit on a tabletop. A camera beanbag is the answer. But if you check out prices, you might be surprised at what you could pay for something so simple. So I found some easy materials and made my own out of a lunch bag and some plain, uncooked, white rice.
And here’s how you can make your own:

WOW look at you on camera!! Love it! Also great tutorial. I like the idea of a bean bag rather than using my tripod anyway - a tripod around children is not a good idea. It’s way too similar to a tall sword. (This is a fact, not an assumption.)

Ha Hatton! That is such a great point! My kids are always curious about the tripod. What does this lever do? What does this knob do? Makes me one nervous photographer.
I made my beanbag out of washcloths and styrofoam beads from a bean bag chair. Very simple and extremely lightweight. However you make them these things are sometimes way easier to take with you than a regular tripod aren’t they? 🙂
