No lazy Saturday here. Today we jumped into the backyard makeover with both feet, an electric hedge trimmer, and a Sawzall. Nothing says serious like a reciprocating saw. We worked hard all day, and the results are dramatic. We pulled out all the excess bushes and flowers in the area where the patio will go. We transplanted a camellia. We dug up some buried bottles we discovered. We pulled out vines on top of vines on top of vines, and then we sat back and ogled at the results. Really. Every time we look out the window, we have to remark what a difference the deconstruction makes. Our yard feels bigger, lighter, and cleaner already.
I’d forgotten how fun it is to get dirty. And it feels even better that we’ve already made a difference. Tomorrow is tree trimming, raking, and specific measuring so we can think forward to buying the pavers for the patio. Exciting, isn’t it?
